Formation of calcium containing minerals in the low temperature dolomite ceramics

In order to elaborate low temperature dolomite ceramics, potentially suitable for the production of building materials, local low carbonate clay and dolomite siftings were used as a raw materials. Relationship between mechanical properties, mineral composition and firing temperature kept in the range of 600-800° C were established. According to the obtained data it was detected that the optimal burning temperature, giving the highest crushing strength (40 MPa) was around 700-750° C, optimal proportion of dolomite and clay expressed as ratio between CaO and Al2O3 - 2.5 wt%. Globe artichoke has been long considered a nutraceutical food for its valuable content of bioactive compounds. However, beside a well-known polyphenol profile, poor information is available about its metabolite and mineral composition. The aim of this study was to investigate edible parts of Sicilian artichokes, ‘Spinoso di Menfi’ and ‘Violetto di Niscemi’, by 1H NMR and ICP-MS for elucidating these compositional aspects. Abstract Chemometric analysis of inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) data was employed to verify the origin of cherry samples of different areas of Spain: Aragon, Caceres, Castellon, Huesca and Alicante’s Mountain Protected Geographic Indication (PGI). Commercial baby foods are an important part of the daily intake of babies from 6 to 12 months. The mineral profile of commercial baby foods in Spain was determined to establish levels of essential and non-essential elements, and their contribution to adequate intake (AI) and estimated average requirement (EAR). Thirty-five jars of commercial foods containing meat, fish, vegetables and fruit were obtained from the Spanish market and the mineral composition determined for 14 elements.
